Clarice Strohman

Painting

I have lived in Naples, Florida for the past 17 years. I was born and raised in Wisconsin moving around a number of times within the state for my father’s business. I continued to move once I was married, only this time it included Missouri and Utah. I think moving this much enhanced my vision of the world and what beauty we have surrounding us everywhere.

As a child, I was always creating something with crayons and paint. I continued creating in high school and studied art in college. My father was quite artistic and used the walls in our house as his canvas! We lived close to the summer home of the Ringling Brothers Circus which gave my dad his inspiration for our walls. I thought everyone helped their dad paint clowns and circus scenes on their walls!

I paint using oils, acrylics or watercolor. I started years ago taking classes in watercolor with various artists in Naples. Later on I attended workshops in Florida and France and took online courses using oil paint, which is now my favorite medium.

My inspiration for my paintings comes from photos I take traveling in Europe and the United States as well as our beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I also raise and release Monarch butterflies which allows me to capture their beauty in my flower gardens.

My work is currently hanging in the Trillium Gallery in the Naples Art District.

Painting is my passion! I paint with a “Joyful Heart” and
hope to pass this happiness on to the viewer.
